Statement

  “Autumnal Residue Seeds of Sweden”

“Long after we are gone these stones will speak for us”. Karl Seitz’s quote commenting on social housing of the 1920’s“Red Vienna”, still resonates in present day housing policy. In 1947 thanks to the Swedish help programme and President Per Albin Hansson, homes were built in the 10th district of Vienna to help relieve the needs of the war refugees.

This series of images aims to capture the essence and raw beauty of this well designed housing estate which continually surprises and delights me on my daily walks.

Seeds, autumnal residue from this housing estate, still speaks to us today.
